Its a walkers paradise around this area, you can ramble along quiet country roads, or tackle Keepers Hill, The Slieve Felim Way, Lough Derg Way's walks & hikes or The Silvermines Mountains. Whatever your level of fitnes or enthusiasum there is is somewhere near by to suit your requirements

For the leisure cyclist bikes can be hired in Nenagh from where you can follow a number of mapped and sign-posted cycle routes. Of course some are more strenuous than others so you can easily chose one that suits you.

For the more demanding mountain bike enthusiast Bike Park Ireland is just a short drive from Ardcronry B&B. Bike Park Ireland is one of the largest mountain bike parks in the country and boast 5 different levels of tracks. 

Horse-riding and Pony Trekking
Available just a few minutes drive away in Nenagh and Newport there are a couple of riding schools who offer riding facilities and equipment hire and can cater for all levels. 


For golfing enthusiasts, there are four excellent 18 hole courses all within a short driving distance.    Birr  -  Portumna -   

Enjoy coarse and game fishing on Lough Derg a mere 15min drive away.

Close by: Nenagh Town Park is a fantastic, newly built adventure playground on the outskirts of the town. It is situated on the grounds of the newly extended and refurbished Nenagh Leisure Centre & Swimming Pool.

Go-Karting at Tynagh, a great track near Portumna, Bunratty Folkpark is a major attraction with medieval castle and a reconstructed village showing life at that time, working bakery, pottery, weaving - 26 acres of history.
