Birr Town and Castle
The architecturally delightful Georgian Heritage town is, in itself, well worth a visit. Birr Castle , its demesne and splendid gardens must not be missed. It includes the famous Rosse telescope for many years the largest in the world and science museum covering astronomy, engineering and agriculture.

Just across the Shannon in County Galway, the restored 16th century castle, gardens, boating harbour and forest park are well worth a visit.  www.heritageireland.ie

Also a heritage town with its round tower , castle and Queen Anne style Damer House.

Lorrha                                                                                                                               This attractive village of Lorrha is on the site of a monastic settlement with remains of three ancient abbeys from c. 1,000AD and two even older high crosses. Leap Castle, Clareen, Birr
Leap Castle,built in 1240 it acted as a look-out for the mighty O'Carroll clan. The scene of much murder and execution, it is now regarded as "the most haunted castle in Ireland".
Limerick City
King John's Castle and the Hunt Museum (with works by Da Vinci, Renoir, Yeats and Picasso) are highlights of the city at the mouth of the River Shannon. Bunratty Castle and Folkpark are only a short drive from here.
On the River Shannon and at the exact centre of Ireland, this 6th century ecclesiastical site has three high crosses, a cathedral, nine churches and two round towers.
Shannonbridge and Bog Railway
Take the 9km ride and along the way see a working bog with evidence of historic turf harvesting methods,appreciate the wetlands, flora and fauna, wildfowl and an array of archaeological. treasures.                                                                                             
The Burren and Cliffs of Moher
County Clare's main attractions make a great trip. The unique Burren with its rocky almost lunar landscape is world famous for its fauna and alpine flowers. The nearby Cliffs of Moher, stretching for 8kms, with 650ft high cliffs are Europe's best. There is a wonderful all weather visitors centre on site.                                                                                                             
Emo Court
Emo Count is a magnificent classical house with splendid gardens and demesne and should be included as part of  spectacular drive through the Slieve Bloom mountains.
Rock of Cashel
Possibly Ireland's most important and spectacular ecclesiastical site towering over the adjoining town of Cashel.
Galway City
Attractive city and gateway to Connemara it has history, narrow streets, interesting shopping, pubs and waterfront - 2009 hosts to the Volvo Round the World Ocean Race.
